Oktoberfest Legend – Ken Sutton
I’m from New South Wales in Australia, my first visit to Oktoberfest was in 2014 with my wife and son.
With no idea what to expect, when I walked into the beer tents I thought I had died and gone to beer heaven.
In fact we all had such a great time that we came back in 2016 for a 3-day “tour of duty” (yes, every true beer connoisseur has to make this pilgrimage at least once in their life).
Again it was an amazing time, and we still share the stories and the laughs from that trip today.

My favourite food was the beer (it is food, isn’t it?), the half-chickens and the pork knuckles. The crackling on the pork is just the best. Oh and did I say the beer is delicious?
We’re once again planning our next trip to Oktoberfest in 2018, and will also be visiting the Stuttgart Beer festival again that year – my son and I went last year to check it out and it was just epic.
The 2 biggest beer festivals in the world, both in Germany and they run at the same time – it’s beer heaven indeed!
My big tip to anyone who wants to go to Oktoberfest is to arrange things very early and do your research. Book good accommodation and arrange beer tent reservations if you aren’t booking through a tour operator. Especially on a weekend – we could not get into any of the tents one of the days we were there (and yes, we were sober!).
