Tips for Oktoberfest 2022 in Munich
After being canceled for two straight years, Oktoberfest 2022 in Munich is shaping up to be the most epic one yet. The comeback of the century, some are calling it. (We definitely are!) To prepare for this most-anticipated of Oktoberfest celebrations, here are some things you need to know:
Prepare for Oktoberfest 2022
As we recommend every year, book your hotel rooms early. In the case of Oktoberfest 2022, yes, hotels are already booking up this far in advance! Many reservations from 2020 and 2021 have been rolled over to 2022, and many hotels are already open for new bookings.
Oktoberfest 2022 beer tent reservations
For the first time ever, some beer tents began allowing brand new customers to book weekend and evening beer tent reservations in 2021. This was totally unprecedented! Typically, many of the most popular tents have standing reservations that go back decades.
However, with the upheaval of 2020, some parties dropped out, opening the door to newcomers like yourself. So, if you’ve dreamed of scoring weekend or evening beer tent reservations at Oktoberfest, Oktoberfest 2022 may very well be your best chance. Consider it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Oberammergau Passion Play
Another thing to note for Oktoberfest 2022 is that the famous Oberammergau Passion Play will also take place in the nearby Bavarian town of—you guessed it—Oberammergau.
This event happens only once every ten years as it has since the year 1634. You can find more info on the Oberammergau Passion Play here.
Some additional tips for Oktoberfest 2022
Oktoberfest 2022 is expected to be hugely popular, but we can never really be sure these days about what’s going to happen. For that reason, be sure to check out our airline’s policy on date changes and other amendments to your itinerary.
Also, it never hurts to book a hotel with a lenient cancellation or change policy. Many hotels (and other companies) who never offered free cancellation have now changed their tune.
Another travel industry obstacle is the current rental car shortage. If your pre- or post-Oktoberfest 2022 adventures have you needing to rent a car, get on that sooner than later.
Remember, there are only so many hotel rooms and rental cars to go around. And with Munich’s Oktoberfest annually seeing more than 6 million visitors, you can never plan early enough!
And if you plan to book one our awesome beer festival tours, don’t wait too long! Our 2022 festival tours are already booking up fast (remember, many of those are people who tried visit in 2020 and 2021!) and spots on our Beer or Bust tour are already limited. Secure your spot ASAP. Prost!
