How much does Oktoberfest cost? Getting in is free. There is no entry fee for the festival grounds or the beer tents, so what you spend comes down to beer, food, a bed for the night and getting to Munich. Most people spend somewhere between €70 and €210 a day inside the festival, with accommodation on top. A four-day trip usually comes to around €1,200 to €1,500 per person, not counting flights. Here is where the money goes.

Quick answer: the key Oktoberfest costs in 2026

  • Entry: Free. The grounds and the tents cost nothing to enter.
  • Beer: €14.80 to €15.90 per litre (Maß), most big tents around €15.80, plus a €1 to €2 tip.
  • Food: €12 to €35 per meal; a half-chicken is about €18.
  • Accommodation: Munich hotels run roughly €300 to €500 or more a night during the festival.
  • Getting around: an MVV day ticket is about €10; the airport train is around €15.50 each way.
  • Per day in the tents: €70 for a relaxed day, up to €210 for a big one.

Is there an entry fee for Oktoberfest?

No. Walking into Oktoberfest, and into the beer tents themselves, is completely free. There is no ticket to get through the gates. The one catch is that you have to be seated to be served a beer, and on busy nights and weekends a seat can be hard to find without a reservation. That is where the real spending and planning start.

How much is a beer at Oktoberfest 2026?

A litre of beer, known as a Maß, costs between €14.80 and €15.90 in 2026 depending on the tent. Most of the large tents sit around €15.80, while the wine and wheat-beer Weinzelt is the priciest at €18.40. It is normal to tip your server €1 to €2 per Maß on top. Non-alcoholic drinks are not much cheaper: water runs about €11.13 a litre and a Spezi about €12.84.

How much does food cost at Oktoberfest?

Food is one of the better-value parts of the day. A meal inside the tents runs €12 to €35, and the famous half-chicken (Hendl) is around €18. Out on the Wiesn you will find pretzels, sausages, roasted nuts and Nutella crepes for a few euros each. Make sure you eat, because those smooth 6% litres add up faster than you would think.

How much does accommodation cost during Oktoberfest?

Your bed is almost always the biggest single cost of the trip. Munich hotels are in huge demand across the two weeks of Oktoberfest, and prices rise to match:

Option Typical price during Oktoberfest
Hostel dorm bedaround €60 to €120 a night
3 to 4 star hotel (room)around €300 to €500 a night
Premium / 5-star hotel€500 or more a night
Festival campgroundbudget option, basic facilities

Two rules of thumb: book as early as you can, because popular hotels sell out close to a year ahead, and try to stay near the Theresienwiese so the walk home is short. See our Oktoberfest accommodation guide for where to stay.

How much does it cost to get to and around Oktoberfest?

Flights vary the most, from a cheap hop within Europe to a long-haul fare, so price yours separately. Once you are in Munich, getting around is easy and cheap:

  • Airport to city: the S1 or S8 train is about €15.50 each way and takes roughly 45 minutes.
  • MVV day ticket (inner zone): about €10 for unlimited city travel.
  • Deutschlandticket: €58 a month for public transport across Germany if you are travelling more widely.
  • Driving: not worth it. There is no parking, and the Theresienwiese is only a 10-minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof.

What about a dirndl or lederhosen?

Traditional Bavarian dress (Trachten) is optional, but it is half the fun. Prices range widely. A cheap dirndl or lederhosen bought online can be under €50, mid-range sets run €100 to €250, and good-quality pieces that last for years go into the hundreds. If you can wait, the best deals tend to turn up at the end of the festival.

How much should I budget per day at Oktoberfest?

Here is a realistic per-person estimate for a day inside the festival, covering food, drink and rides. Accommodation is separate.

Style of day What it includes Rough cost
Relaxed3 beers, 1 meal, tipsaround €70
Average5 beers, 2 meals, a ride, tipsaround €140
Big day out8 beers, food, rides, tipsaround €210

One thing worth knowing: bring cash. A lot of tents and stalls still do not take cards.

Sample total: what does a four-day Oktoberfest trip cost?

A mid-range, independent four-day trip for one person, based on sharing a room and not counting flights:

Item Estimate (per person)
Hotel, 4 nights (sharing a room)around €700
Festival spend, 3 days at around €140around €420
Munich transportaround €40
Dirndl or lederhosen (optional)around €100 to €300
Total (excluding flights)around €1,200 to €1,500

Add flights on top of that. Keep in mind that the two priciest and most stressful parts, a good hotel near the grounds and a guaranteed seat in a tent, are also the two things that sell out first.

Is it cheaper to book an Oktoberfest package?

Once you add up a central hotel, beer-tent reservations (tents usually want €250 to €350 of food and beer vouchers per table to hold one), and the hours spent organising it all, a package often works out similar to doing it yourself, without the hassle or the risk of missing out.

Our Oktoberfest Munich packages start from €1,295 per person and include hotel accommodation minutes from the festival grounds, breakfast every day, guided beer-tent access with food and beer vouchers, and local bilingual guides. The most expensive and fiddly parts of the trip are sorted before you arrive. See our package prices and dates.
